Digital radiography (DR): This method capture X-ray images with the use of digital detectors instead of traditional film. It offers better image quality and lower radiation exposure.
Digital tomosynthesis (DTS) : its a 3D imaging technique that allows radiologists to look at the internal structures of an object without having to rotate the object.
It’s important to note that X-rays are a form of ionizing radiation, which means that it has enough energy to remove tightly bound electrons from atoms, it can damage the DNA of cells. Therefore, radiation exposure should be kept as low as reasonably achievable(ALARA principle) while still obtaining the necessary diagnostic information. Medical imaging professionals should use the lowest radiation dose required to obtain the diagnostic information needed and continually evaluate the necessity of the test to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
