Medical Devices are a subcategory of Medtech which include a wide range of products such as diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, implantable devices, and assistive technologies. Medical devices can be classified into three main categories: diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring devices.
Examples of medtech and medical devices include:
Diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI machines, which are used to diagnose and monitor a wide range of medical conditions.
Surgical instruments such as scalpels, forceps, and stents, which are used in a wide range of surgical procedures. Implantable devices such as pacemakers, artificial joints, and cochlear implants, which are used to replace or support damaged or missing body parts.
Monitoring devices such as blood glucose monitors, blood pressure monitors, and electrocardiograms (ECGs), which are used to monitor vital signs and track the progression of chronic conditions.
Robotics and computer-assisted systems, which are used to assist or perform surgeries, and also used in rehabilitation
Digital health tools such as remote monitoring systems, electronic health records (EHRs) and telemedicine systems, which are used to collect, analyze, and share patient data.
