There’s a key business case to keeping virtual waiting rooms around, according to Banner Health’s Jeff Johnson, VP of Innovation and Digital Business. In addition to improving patient experience, a factor to which some value-based reimbursement is tied, digital waiting rooms could force organizations to reconsider how they utilize their office space.
And as the pandemic has become a regular part of American life, other organizations are lauding virtual waiting rooms for the impact they can have on convenience and patient experience.
Moving toward a post-pandemic world, healthcare organizations are going to have to assess technologies like virtual waiting room to determine how they fit in future strategy. While some technologies, like telehealth, may give way to a more hybrid care access approach, most providers agree their virtual waiting room options could be here to stay.
