Standard Occupational Classification (SOC): School Psychologists

School psychologists in healthcare work with students, families, teachers, and school administrators to address a wide range of academic, behavioral, and mental health issues in educational settings. They may provide individual and group counseling, conduct psychological evaluations, develop and implement behavior and academic intervention plans, consult with teachers and administrators on student support and accommodations, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care for students. They must have a graduate degree in school psychology and be licensed in their state of practice. In addition to their work in schools, some school psychologists may also provide services in healthcare settings, such as hospitals or mental health clinics, to support the needs of children and families.
