Occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) and aides in healthcare work under the supervision of occupational therapists to provide therapy services to patients. They also must be able to understand and comply with laws and regulations related to occupational therapy.

To perform their role effectively, occupational therapy assistants and aides in healthcare should have knowledge of the healthcare industry, and be familiar with the principles and techniques of occupational therapy. They should also possess knowledge of laws and regulations related to occupational therapy and be able to work under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Additionally, they should have effective communication skills to be able to work with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
