Millwrights are skilled tradespeople who install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot industrial machinery and equipment. They use various hand and power tools, as well as measuring instruments to align, level, and adjust machinery. They also use blueprints, schematics and technical manuals to plan the installation and maintenance of equipment. Millwrights must have knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and welding, in order to be able to work with various types of equipment.

In the healthcare industry, millwrights may be involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of equipment, including medical imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and MRI machines, surgical equipment, medical gas systems, and mechanical systems such as elevators and HVAC. They may also be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing structural, electrical and plumbing systems within healthcare facilities.

Additionally, millwrights in healthcare must ensure that their work meets safety regulations and industry standards. This includes following OSHA guidelines to ensure that equipment and machinery is installed, maintained, and repaired in a safe and efficient manner.
