Standard Occupational Classification (SOC): Helpers--Painters, Paperhangers, Plasterers, and Stucco Masons

Painters, paperhangers, plasterers, and stucco masons in healthcare facilities are responsible for maintaining the appearance and functionality of the facility’s interior and exterior surfaces. This may include tasks such as painting walls and ceilings, hanging wallpaper, plastering walls and ceilings, and applying stucco to exterior surfaces. These workers may also be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting or other finishes, as well as cleaning up after their work is completed. In addition to their technical skills, painters, paperhangers, plasterers, and stucco masons in healthcare facilities must also have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and safety procedures carefully. They may also need to be able to work well as part of a team and to communicate effectively with other members of the maintenance and repair staff.
