Billing and posting clerks in healthcare are responsible for the billing and financial aspects of healthcare organizations such as hospitals, clinics, and insurance companies. They are responsible for creating and sending invoices to patients, insurance companies, and other payers for services rendered. They also process payments, and post charges and payments to patient accounts.

In healthcare, billing and posting clerks may also need to work closely with other departments such as medical billing, coding and the medical staff to ensure that the billing process is accurate, timely and compliant with insurance regulations and laws such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

They may also be responsible for handling insurance claims, and following up on unpaid or denied claims. They may also assist patients with billing questions and concerns and work to resolve any issues that may arise.

Billing and posting clerks in healthcare may also need to be familiar with the medical terminology and codes used in healthcare billing and coding, and be able to use specialized software such as electronic health records (EHRs) and billing systems.
