Standard Occupational Classification (SOC): Bartenders

Bartenders in healthcare are responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. They typically work in the facility’s cafeteria, lounge or vending areas. Their job duties may include mixing and serving drinks, maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, and handling cash and credit card transactions. They may also be responsible for adhering to laws and regulations related to the sale and service of alcohol. Bartenders in healthcare facilities typically have prior experience working as a bartender, and hold a valid state-issued alcohol service permit or certification. Bartenders in healthcare facilities are not common and typically not exist, but in some special cases such as hospitals with hotel-like amenities for patients and visitors, those facilities may have a bar.
