Military dentistry is a branch of dentistry that is concerned with the oral health of military personnel and their families. It is a specialized field that involves providing dental care in a variety of settings, including on ships, in field hospitals, and in combat zones. Military dentists are often called upon to provide emergency care, as well as routine care, and must be able to adapt to a wide range of conditions.

Military dentistry also includes dental readiness and dental public health, which includes the assessment of the oral health status of the military population, and the development of plans to ensure that military personnel have the necessary dental care to deploy and maintain readiness. Additionally, military dentists may provide dental care to veterans and retired military personnel, and also may be called upon to provide humanitarian aid and dental care in disaster relief situations.
