The leaf sensor is a wireless, single-use, disposable device adhered to a patients chest. The sensor immediately begins monitoring the patients position, orientation, movement, and activity. Care providers can remotely monitor the turning and mobility status for all patients. Visual notifications are provided when assistance is necessary to meet patient mobility goals. Traditionally, turning protocols have only focused on patient turn frequency. Leaf provides a more effective way to assess and manage pressure injury prevention efforts by accurately measuring turn frequency, turn angle, and reperfusion time and combining them into an Integrated Positioning Index™ (IPI). The index is the first tool that precisely measures the effectiveness of patient turning and can be used to help reduce the risk of pressure injuries.
