PlanPoint is a software platform, accessible from your planning laptop, that you can use to strategize your robotic-assisted bronchoscopy navigation and biopsy before you enter the procedure room. It uses a CT scan of the patientâs lungs to generate 3D airway trees. Once you identify a targeted pulmonary nodule, Ion’s PlanPoint software automatically creates a path to the nodule. A simple user interface allows you to review and edit the plan.
Integrates with PACS
PlanPoint features PACS (picture archiving and communication system) integration. With the image storage and transmission capabilities of PACS, PlanPoint provides a seamless experience from accessing CT scans to procedure planning.
Using PlanPoint you can retrieve your patient scans securely via PACS over the hospital network or directly from imaging modalities. This eliminates the need to transport physical hardware which can reduce the time it takes to access your scans. PACS integration along with PlanPointâs CT suitability assessment enables efficient planning of your case.
Identifies peripheral airways
PlanPoint software’s deep segmentation capability, powered by machine learning, identifies small airways in the peripheral lung.
Using PlanPointâs turn-by-turn navigation guidance along with Ionâs ultrathin fully articulating catheter, you can reach far into peripheral airways to access difficultâ -â toâ -â reach nodules.
Generates anatomy borders
PlanPoint automatically generates 3D structures of pleura or fissures based on their proximity to the nodule. This feature helps you visualize these important anatomical borders and gives you a reference for where these structures are while performing a biopsy.
You also have the options to adjust the size and the range of the automatic anatomy borders, or manually create your own anatomy borders.
Expands your navigation options
PlanPoint software can provide multiple navigational path choices with the option to adjust the paths as needed. You can also edit the path, create alternative paths, and use the “extend airway” tool to add airways that were not automatically generated for the airway tree.
In addition, PlanPoint’s nodule segmentation feature automatically segments the shape of the nodule and includes editing capability to support customization. You can change the biopsy target from the center of the lesion to any point you desire.
