Want to Reduce Racial Discrimination in Health Care? Start with History Lessons

To address racial discrimination in healthcare, educating people about the history of racial disparities is crucial. While many White patients don't acknowledge racism in healthcare, accurate historical lessons can change perspectives. Researchers like Kimberly Martin and Kerri Johnson conducted a study with 1,853 White participants. Those exposed to critical Black history lessons were more likely to recognize racism today. The findings highlight the importance of understanding the past injustices, promoting equality in healthcare, and combating systemic racism to create a more equitable healthcare system and society.
