How Remote Patient Monitoring Can Save Cancer Patients' Lives

A frequent side effect of chemotherapy for cancer patients is neutropenic fever. With a shocking death rate of 7-9.5%, one out of every 29 chemotherapy patients is really hospitalized. Fevers often develop abruptly and go unrecognized until it's too late. The potential to lower hospitalizations and fatalities in susceptible populations like chemotherapy patients is offered by remote patient monitoring tools like wearable temperature monitors. The sensors are able to identify abnormal temperature readings and signal them for the patient's and oncologist's active monitoring, or in more severe circumstances, for the patient to travel to the hospital for observation.
