London-based virtual ward technology provider, Doccla, has announced its acquisition of the cloud-based platform OpenTeleHealth (OTH). OpenTeleHealth, founded in 2015, offers a universal remote patient monitoring platform that allows patients to measure health data at home using an app and medical measurement devices. Doctors can access patient data via a web portal.
Doccla has rapidly become a leading virtual ward provider for the British NHS, serving multiple NHS trusts with a patient compliance rate of over 95%. The acquisition of OTH expands Doccla's global presence, now serving clients in 13 countries, including 10 European nations. This step marks Doccla's progress toward becoming Europe's virtual hospital.
Doccla's CEO and co-founder, Dag Larsson, highlighted the positive impact of the acquisition on patient outcomes across Europe. The acquisition will enable Doccla to leverage OTH's technology and further develop its remote patient monitoring platform.
Doccla's virtual ward technology, launched during the pandemic, allows patients to be monitored at home while still being closely supervised by healthcare professionals. Patients receive a customized equipment box containing wearable medical devices and a pre-configured smartphone. Doccla's system covers over 40 clinical pathways and has a presence in both European and non-European markets.
