When paired with personalized patient data, Big Data in health care has the potential to significantly improve patient-level insights. Understanding a patient's entire health journey is crucial for conducting relevant research, establishing the proper diagnosis, providing clinical decision support, and ensuring health equity for individuals and communities; however, uncovering actionable insights from Big Data can be difficult. Stakeholders are turning to next-generation data tokenization to enable the blending of real-world data (RWD) sources in order to fully realize the potential of Big Data.
Tokenization's primary goal is to exploit data in a more holistic context via deep patient linkage and deidentification across a wide range of datasets, all while protecting security and patient privacy.
