AWS Launches Generative AI Solution That Auto Generates Clinical Notes

AWS HealthScribe, a new HIPAA-eligible service from Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), enables healthcare software companies to create clinical applications that employ speech recognition and generative AI to generate clinical documentation, saving doctors' time.

With the help of AWS HealthScribe, developers of healthcare software can use a single API to automatically produce thorough transcripts, extract important information (such as medical terms and medications), and produce summaries from conversations between doctors and patients that can then be entered into an electronic health record (EHR) system. AWS HealthScribe is used by a number of clients and partners, including 3M Health Information Systems, Babylon Health, and ScribeEMR. AWS HealthScribe, powered by Amazon Bedrock, enables healthcare software companies to more quickly and easily include generative AI capabilities into their application, starting with two well-known disciplines (i.e., general medicine and neuroscience).
