According to a CIO survey, CIOs are increasingly using data and automation to boost revenue at their organisations. According to the July 24 news, a 2022 Info-Tech Research Group survey indicated that CIOs' top objective was to assist revenue development. According to the news outlet's 2023 State of CIO study, 68% of CIOs think developing new revenue-generating projects is a part of their job responsibilities. The most common approach is automation of business and IT processes.
Donagh Herlihy, chief digital and information officer of Subway, said on the website that 20 years ago, the CIO function was all about internal operations. "Growth, profitability, productivity, and engagement are all now parts of the CIO role that 20 years ago was all about internal operations," he added. Forrester Research was also quoted by CIO: "The tech leader's role is evolving from a niche focus."
