Why Health Tech Firms Must Hire Chief Medical Officers
The health technology sector is fueled by innovation and is always evolving. However, it is evident that, in the wake of the pandemic, investors and consumers are much less at ease with decisions that are only made by technological experts without senior medical knowledge present. From the outside, having a medical officer on your leadership team may seem apparent, but research reveals that this is frequently not the case. Only 55 out of 150 top health tech companies, or 37%, had a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on their executive team, according to CB Insights' most recent "Digital Health 150" report. CMOs at health tech start-ups have increased since 2020, demonstrating that leadership is cognizant of the benefits a CMO can provide.
