In order to supplement the data from clinical trials, real world evidence (RWE) in pharmaceutical medication development examines data from wearable devices and electronic health records that are collected in the real world. RWE offers insights that clinical trials cannot, such as information about a patient's everyday safety and efficacy. RWE, according to the FDA, is "clinical evidence on the use and possible benefits or dangers of a medicinal product produced from analysis of real-world data." In order to anticipate the course of a disease and a patient's reaction to a vaccine or medication, RWE aids researchers in understanding how patient traits and behaviours impact health outcomes.
