Cybersecurity Roundup 2022: A Year of Ongoing Threats
Healthcare Innovation presents some of the top cybersecurity news from 2022 the healthcare industry remains a prime target for bad actors. Sadly, there was a serious threat at the beginning of the year. Russian cyberattacks may be used as a form of retaliation in response to the economic and military sanctions the U.S. government and NATO allies have imposed on the country, according to a cybersecurity advice released by the American Hospital Association (AHA) on February 23. The AHA is "closely monitoring the potential for increasing cyber vulnerabilities to the U.S. health system resulting from the current military operations in the Russia/Ukraine region," according to the advisory. The Ukrainian financial institutions, communications networks, and electrical grid have all been affected by cyberattacks launched by the Russian military in the past. For instance, it was revealed last week that cyber attacks targeting the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and other targets were carried out by the Russian military.
