Due to technology, diabetes management has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. The online diabetes community has grown significantly, continuous glucose monitors are replacing finger pricks, digital patches and insulin pumps make the dosage of insulin more predictable, and connected devices indicate that the era of the artificial pancreas is just around the corner. We looked at the current state of diabetes technology and what might be in store for us over the next five to ten years. Companies in the digital health sector and the diabetes community are pressing for change. Millions of people continue to suffer from diabetes all over the world. The International Diabetes Federation's most recent estimates indicate that 537 million persons worldwide have diabetes, and that figure is rapidly rising.
