Women’s heart attack symptoms may be different than those experienced by men. Heart disease is a term that refers to several types of heart conditions, including coronary artery disease and heart attack. Nearly the same number of women as men experience heart attacks in the United States (U.S.) each year and, surprisingly, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the U.S. taking the lives of about one in every five females.
