2024 Maternal-Fetal Imaging Advances in OB-GYN Ultrasound

 January 12 to January 14, 2024

The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio, 420 West Market Street, San Antonio, Texas, 78205, United States

Welcome to our annual MATERNAL-FETAL IMAGING course "Improving Your Skills: Practical Approach to Ultrasound Imaging!" This 3-day course will be held in beautiful San Antonio and will be delivered by leaders in the field. The sessions are packed with practical tips and pearls and are geared at all sonologists: from the novice to the very advanced. Our comprehensive course shall cover the most challenging diagnostic conditions in prenatal diagnosis and gynecologic imaging. What is most unique about our course is its interactive nature. We shall hear from expert maternal-fetal-medicine specialists, radiologists, sonographers and genetic counsellors as they present ample cases and share their respective multi-disciplinary approaches to various clinical scenarios.

The course has an informative gynecologic section with outstanding faculty who shall discuss the latest SRU Consensus on First Trimester Lexicon, evaluation of abnormal bleeding in the postmenopausal patient and the sonographic approach to the most common adnexal masses. There will be a special "tips" session on diagnosing Ovarian/adnexal torsion and another on the critical role of 3D ultrasound in gynecology. The challenging topic of evaluating the patient with chronic pelvic pain shall also be covered.

In obstetrics, all conditions from ectopic pregnancy to placenta accrete spectrum to post-partum bleeding will be presented and heavily illustrated. There will be a special focus on the anatomic assessment at 11-14 weeks and a full session on the fetal heart. The various organ systems of the fetus will be covered with a special focus on genetics and the role of advanced imaging of the fetal face and brain. We end our course with a "test your skills" case unknowns and the winner shall receive a special award.

Our Directors for the course are Dolores Pretorius, MD and Reem S. Abu-Rustum, MD. Dr. Pretorius is Professor Emeritus of Radiology, University of California, San Diego and Director of Imaging at the UCSD Center for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  She has a special interest in Obstetrical Ultrasound and assisted in the development of 3D Ultrasound. Dr. Abu-Rustum is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of Ultrasound Education and Research at University of Florida College of Medicine. She is the President-elect of ISUOG and has a special interest in First Trimester Imaging.
