In this webinar, you will come away with a tangible set of skills that give you the confidence to carry out systematic and holistic clinical assessments. This course has been revised and updated for 2023 to reflect contemporary practice, examples, and information. Both clinicians and non-clinicians can undertake clinical assessments. Comprehensive clinical assessment is more than just filling out a few forms. People with disabilities and older people often have multiple and complex care needs, so assessing them is a highly skilled activity. Initial assessments by care managers should identify any health issues which then can be referred to a clinician such as a Registered or Enrolled Nurse, Physiotherapist, or Occupational Therapist for a more in-depth assessment which then allows the health professionals to gain deeper insight into individual needs. Health issues and care needs are best identified through a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and person-centred approach to assessment. The practice of clinical assessment involves the ability to make clinically sound decisions; consequently, the aim of this webinar is to critically develop advanced knowledge and skills to enable you to conduct a robust clinical assessment independently and to identify when referrals are needed.
