Special Networks Debate on Advanced Cyber Security Attack

Some of the trusts affected had to declare critical incidents and warned of impact on patient care and safety.  Some have already switched to alternative systems, others are still hoping that national agencies will help them regain access to their systems. The Lockbit 3.0 attack is by far the most disruptive cyber security incident affecting NHS trusts since Wannacry in 2017.  Unlike Wannacry patient data was exfiltrated in the attack. National agencies have worked closely with individual trusts affected throughout the incident.  To date there remains no official word on when recovery will be completed. Throughout the past three months there has been very little public guidance on the attack or remediation, from NHS England or NHS Digital. To help share lessons from the attack, attempts to recover and avoid future incidents being so disruptive Digital Health Networks is holding a special Networks debate on the Advanced attack.
