In the framework of a Horizon 2020 project (EATRIS-Plus), EATRIS (European infrastructure for translational medicine) and EPF (European Patients’ Forum) have recently formed a multi-stakeholder task force to provide academic researchers with guidance and resources on engaging patients in their research, particularly at pre-clinical and early clinical phase.
The intention of this task force is to address the multiple barriers preventing academic researchers from meaningfully engaging with patients, that were identified through a series of workshops and a survey, as well as to build on the knowledge and learning from initiatives such as PARADIGM and Patient Focused Medicine Development.
