Understanding Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome: From Diagnosis to Management

Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS) is an overgrowth and cancer predisposition syndrome, and families still face barriers to diagnosis and standard of care management. This virtual lecture will provide up-to-date information on the current diagnostic and multi-disciplinary disease management practices for BWS, including a review of a newly published clinical pathway for BWS’s diagnosis and management.

Review of the clinical diagnostic criteria for Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome

Description of the molecular etiology of BWS

Discussion of the current management practices for BWS, including a new evidence-based clinical pathway for BWS diagnosis and management in the NICU

BWS is a complex disease requiring effective coordination of care among many different pediatric specialties, including genetics, neonatology, plastic surgery, orthodontists, speech pathology, pulmonology, feeding specialists, oncology, endocrinology, orthopedics, and gastroenterology.
