It is not unusual for people to begin to meditate because they would like to feel differently, maybe less anxious, less stressed or more peaceful; only to be disappointed when meditation sometimes seems to exacerbate the very feelings they are hoping to alleviate. Mindfulness involves bringing increased awareness to the unfolding of present moment experience with curiosity, openness and acceptance.Whilst paradoxical to approach difficult emotions in this way mindfulness has been proven to help nurture improved self-care, self-regulation and resilience.
