New CMMI Innovation Models Support Digitally Enabled Care

CMS introduced two new innovation models, TMaH and IBH, emphasizing digitally enabled care. TMaH aims to revolutionize pregnancy and postpartum care for Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries, offering up to $17 million to 15 state Medicaid agencies. IBH targets mental health and substance use disorder coordination, providing up to $7.5 million to eight state agencies. Both models prioritize technology investments, including EHRs and telehealth, to enhance data collection, care integration, and health equity. They offer opportunities for providers to leverage digital tools, bridge technology gaps, and improve workforce capabilities. Additionally, they enable health tech companies to enter new markets and address long-standing healthcare disparities, ultimately enhancing access and outcomes for vulnerable populations.
