Mass General Brigham to Expand Hospital-at-Home Services
Mass General Brigham is expanding its Home Hospital program to encompass three community hospital sites in Massachusetts: Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and Salem Hospital. This expansion received approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The Home Hospital initiative was initially established in 2022 by Mass General Brigham, consolidating existing hospital-at-home programs from Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Hospital-at-home programs offer acute-level care within a patient's residence. Patients enrolled in the Home Hospital program benefit from daily in-home or virtual visits by healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or physicians. Additionally, the program leverages continuous remote patient monitoring (RPM), facilitating the transmission of vital sign data to clinicians and enabling two-way text and video communication.
