The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified health equity issues across the country. As the health care delivery system transforms, underserved populations are facing increasing challenges in accessing quality health care. Over the past year, the current care model has shifted into a virtual one, requiring us to reimagine what healthcare could look like.
The intersection of interoperability, telehealth, and patient behaviors are all coming together to disrupt the present landscape and redefine wellbeing. The many possibilities opened up by the virtual care model are balanced by the disparities exposed by both the pandemic and the limitations of access to virtual care.
