Key Patient Navigation Strategies for COVID-19 Vaccine Access

Vaccine hesitancy has proven to be just one of the massive hurdles medicine has dealt with since December—or even prior to that—when the first approved COVID-19 vaccines came to market.

The idea of vaccine hesitancy has blended into the push for equitable vaccine distribution. With a disease that has disproportionately affected communities of color two- or three-fold, it has been essential for public health officials to ensure those communities have a fighting chance at getting the vaccine.

As healthcare continues its pursuit of herd immunity, it’s going to need to consider the myriad obstacles standing in patients’ way. Healthcare leaders need to balance patient navigation, an intuitive technology approach, and community-based messaging to execute COVID-19 vaccine access.
