A Japanese AI developed by NEC Corporation and Tokyo Medical and Dental University aims to identify causes of chronic lower back pain (CLBP) and provide suitable exercise programs. The technology utilizes human pose estimation and abductive reasoning to assess skeletal pose structure and evaluate the condition of body parts, including the relationship between joints and the shape of the back. This allows for rapid estimation of pain causes within approximately 10 seconds. With Japan's aging population and CLBP prevalence, such technology becomes crucial. NEC and TMDU plan to expand its application to neck and shoulder disorders, aiming to provide effective solutions for pain management.
