Smartwatches have limited scope in the health care sector as diagnostic tools, as they cannot provide validated measurements of health‐related factors, including heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, and mood. These measurements are presented to the consumer as medical information despite being recreational grade, which is not always made clear. By embracing smartwatch technology in chronic disease management, healthcare professionals and innovators can revolutionize patient care. Through patient-centered monitoring, integration with EHRs, fostering patient engagement, leveraging data analytics and AI, and addressing privacy concerns, smartwatches can become valuable tools in empowering individuals to take control of their health. This integration of wearable technology has the potential to enhance disease management, facilitate early interventions, and ultimately improve the overall quality of life for individuals living with chronic conditions.
