Accelerating Strategies Around Internet of Medical Things Devices

As the use of IoMT devices in healthcare grows, it’s crucial that health IT teams manage and monitor these devices with security in mind. The use of Internet of Medical Things devices is growing in healthcare, and that trend is expected to continue. IoMT devices include hospital equipment, wearable technology and other tools to collect and monitor environmental and biometric data. These solutions can exist within traditional healthcare settings or in a patient’s home. Remote patient monitoring devices are one example of IoMT solutions that are expanding hospitals’ device networks into the home. Another growing subset of IoMT are cameras and sensors in patient rooms to monitor and detect changes in a patient’s status. This proliferation of devices within health system networks also comes with increased risk. It’s critical that health IT teams monitor, manage and secure devices to reduce risk and minimize the effect of cyberattacks, especially as IoMT devices integrate with more systems in healthcare IT environments.
