New York Health System Launches RPM Program for Cancer Patients

Ellis Medicine, located in Schenectady, New York, is launching an innovative remote patient monitoring (RPM) program designed to monitor the temperatures of oncology patients within the comfort of their homes. In collaboration with AOIN Biosystems and the city, the Stay Well program will provide select patients with AION's iTempShield wearable patch, enabling the continuous measurement of body temperature for periods ranging from 30 days to six months. This initiative is especially crucial as individuals undergoing cancer treatment are more susceptible to infections like sepsis, which can prove fatal without swift detection and intervention. As healthcare organizations nationwide transition services from hospitals to patients' homes, RPM programs are gaining popularity as a means to maintain continuous or regular communication with patients at risk of health complications or hospitalization. Beyond oncology, RPM programs are being implemented for patients with various conditions such as COPD, diabetes, congestive heart failure, post-surgery recovery, and maternal and infant care.
