Presented herein is a guest discourse by Zack Tisch, Senior VP of Innovation and Life Sciences at Pivot Point Consulting. Historically, medical devices have contributed value to healthcare, but within isolated spheres. Wearables, home tech, and in-facility tools operate independently, collecting data without cross-provider or specialty integration. A transformative shift beckons, compelling healthcare entities to interlace data from the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) cohesively into patient care workflows, fostering enhanced outcomes. Facilitating this evolution necessitates strategic orchestration and infrastructure to harmoniously assimilate diverse inputs and optimize patient care processes. Although medical device data has been accessed by several healthcare establishments, its use remains fragmentary, leading to inefficiencies and untapped potential due to disjointed initiatives across disciplines such as geriatric medicine and bariatrics. Such disconnects yield redundancies, inflated IT expenses, and missed synergistic prospects.
This paper presents an exposition by Zack Tisch, Senior VP at Pivot Point Consulting. Historically, medical devices added value in isolated domains. Wearables, home tech, and in-facility tools gathered data autonomously, lacking inter-provider and specialty integration. A paradigm shift urges cohesive integration of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) data for augmented patient care. Enabling this necessitates strategic orchestration, merging diverse inputs, and refining care processes. Current fragmentation in medical device data utilization yields inefficiencies and unexplored potential, hindered by disjointed initiatives in fields like geriatric medicine and bariatrics, yielding redundancies, inflated IT costs, and missed synergies.
