Amid Rampant Provider Burnout, Marketplace Platform Companies Focus on Clinician Experience
As the world prepares to enter the third year of the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s hard to believe that there was a time before anyone knew what a coronavirus was, or how it would disrupt everyone’s lives seemingly overnight. Today, many people have found ways to adjust to a new normal and accepted the ripple effect of change in their daily lives, including how and where they work. But what about healthcare workers?
Suffering countless hours understaffed, under supported, under protected and underfunded, nearly half a million healthcare workers have left the workforce since February 2020, estimates the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Some of the main reasons healthcare workers report having left their jobs include: cut salaries, benefits and raises; being forced to work more shifts; denied paid time off or reduced hours; insufficient personal protective equipment; and a downplaying of the severity of their experiences, reports The Atlantic.
